Promise to Pay

Record payment commitments, log every call, and chase follow-ups on a set cadence.

Promise to Pay — Kenyan property management

What It Is

When a tenant says they will pay on Friday, this is where that commitment is recorded, chased and settled. Each promise carries an amount, a date and the lease it belongs to, and sits beside a contact log covering calls, SMS, WhatsApp and site visits.

How It Works

An officer records a promise against a lease and books a follow-up. Every contact attempt is logged with its channel, its outcome and whether the right party was reached, and logging a contact automatically closes that lease's other open follow-ups so the queue reflects reality rather than growing forever. Amounts received are tracked against the amount promised, reminders go out on a configurable cadence ahead of the promised date, and the worklist is ordered longest-uncontacted first with leases that already carry a live promise sinking down it.

Why It Matters

Chasing arrears is a relationship, not a report. Without a contact log, “when did we last speak to this customer?” has no answer, so the same tenant is called twice while another is never called at all. Recorded promises also separate a customer who is engaging from one who is not, which is what should decide whether a case escalates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this feature.

What happens if a tenant pays only part of what they promised?

The promise tracks the amount received against the amount promised, so partial settlement is visible instead of the promise being marked simply kept or broken.

Can promises be imported in bulk?

Yes. Promises can be uploaded from a spreadsheet against unit names, with duplicate protection so re-uploading a corrected file does not double-record commitments.
