Short-Stay & Reservations

Nightly bookings, folios and guest records for furnished and short-stay units.

Short-Stay & Reservations — Kenyan property management

What It Is

Short-stay reservations for furnished apartments and holiday lets, run in the same system as your long-term leases: availability, booking, check-in and check-out, folio charges and cancellation, with guests stored as real records rather than free text.

How It Works

Units offered for short stays are grouped into their own portfolio, and availability is checked against existing bookings before a reservation is taken. The database itself refuses two overlapping confirmed reservations on the same unit, so a double-booking is impossible rather than merely unlikely. Each reservation carries a folio that charges accrue to, with reversals recorded rather than deleted, and confirm, check-in, check-out and cancel are tracked as distinct states.

Why It Matters

Managers running both long-let and short-stay stock usually end up with a second system and a spreadsheet bridging the two. Keeping nightly bookings on the same units, the same ledger and the same reporting removes that reconciliation entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this feature.

Can one property mix long leases and short stays?

Yes. Short-stay units sit in their own portfolio while remaining part of the same property, ledger and reporting.

What stops a unit being double-booked?

An overlap constraint in the database rejects any confirmed reservation that collides with an existing one, so the guarantee does not depend on application code getting it right.
